“I wanted timeless and simplicity all around. I wanted to be able to look back in 50 years, and love all of my choices.”
Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love….
I am an architect and designer by trade, and Rory is a financial planner. When we are not working, we love everything water, in the water, under the water, boats, swimming and the ocean. We have a 2 year old Yellow Lab named Bobby and we love her to bits. Currently we are have just moved into our first home and we are spending most days updating and renovating.
How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
We met in the summer of 2018. Summer job at the Caringbah Pool, where we were both working as life guards. The butterflies were instant.
When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?
Very early on. “Do you want to split a Burger?” Yes…yes I do!
Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it….
Our dog Bobby was the one who organised this proposal at the park. It was a simple picnic at our favourite rocks on the Port Hacking River. Bobby got the ring stuck on her collar.
Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding….
I wanted timeless and simplicity all around. I wanted to be able to look back in 50 years, and love all of my choices.
What was one element you were happy to splurge on?
Absolutely the venue. It set the tone for the whole wedding.
Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?
Well there was a certain grooms man speech that was actually terrifying, and all of the parents were a little mortified. I won’t get into all of the details, but in hind site, it was hilarious. (Grooms man – Please no shoey’s during speeches!!). And the windy!! It was a super windy day, and we just rolled with it! It made for a lot of movement in my photos, which I LOVE!
Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?
It all went back to my wanting to look back in the 50 years, and love my choices. Hopefully I can wear the dress on our 50th wedding anniversary!
